TMA Nomination
It was an exciting evening when the phone call came from Jinelle Boyd, producer of the Texas Music Awards, and all at once years of hard work and dedication seemed to have paid off. Calvin Johnson, lead singer and songwriter for Slow Rollin Lows, heard that his song “Our Brothers” had been nominated by a group of his peers, fans, and industry leaders as song of the year. A track from the latest CD from the band, OUR BROTHERS has received countless accolades since its release on ERIE STREET, the CD produced by Phil Pritchett that was released in 2009.
Calvin, or “Pug” as most folks know him, tells the story that he was first approached by Daniel Miller from radiofreetexas.org regarding the absence of songs truly about TEXAS within the Texas Music scene. Pug was just finishing up reading Michener’s “The Eagle and The Raven” and drew inspiration from that account of early Texas history and soon enough, the song was born.
In the studio, Pug called on several musicians to round out the recording of the song to lend to it the depth he was looking for and to paint the picture in the listeners mind. Luke Adair and Kasey Klepfer sat in on the session to blend into the backdrop and set the stage for the story. The result is , well, award-winning stuff straight from the heart of a true Texan, and is sure to be a giant leap forward in the career of this young and incredibly talented writer.

Slow Rollin Lows & Lost Immigrants @ Sam's Burger Joint
SRL is coming back to San Antonio and will pumping out some kick ass music at Sam's Burger Joint along with friends, Lost Immigrants. Lows will start @ 8:30 and Lost Immigrants will start @ 9:45. This is the un-official kick-off to the 2nd Annual Chili When It's Chilly Cook-Off at Mountain Breeze Campground in New Braunfels.
